Vietri sul Mare celebra Sant’Antonio Abate con la Festa dei Ceramisti il mercoledì 17 gennaio 2024, alle ore 18:00, nell’area adiacente alla Stazione Ferroviaria.

Il 17 gennaio è la festa di Sant’Antonio Abate, patrono del fuoco e protettore degli animali, nonché patrono dei ceramisti e di coloro che lavorano con il fuoco. Anche quest’anno, come consuetudine, Vietri sul Mare, città dall’antica tradizione ceramica, intende onorare Sant’Antonio Abate con una grande festa dei ceramisti, che comprenderà la benedizione della “vampa” (la cottura dei pezzi di ceramica con il fuoco sacro), la degustazione di piatti tipici e momenti di spettacolo e musica popolare.

L’appuntamento è alle 18:00 nel piazzale adiacente alla stazione ferroviaria di Vietri sul Mare, in una suggestiva festa fortemente voluta dal sindaco Giovanni De Simone e dal consigliere comunale con delega alla ceramica Daniele Benincasa.

Per accogliere tutti i graditi ospiti della festa ci sarà un grande falò, i ceramisti vietresi si esibiranno con tecniche spettacolari, alcune delle quali antiche, nell’arte millenaria che ha reso Vietri sul Mare famosa ed apprezzata in tutto il mondo. Lo spettacolo includerà anche l’esibizione dei mangiafuoco e la possibilità di gustare deliziosi piatti tipici preparati dagli stessi ceramisti.

La manifestazione sarà preceduta dalla presentazione dell’annullo filatelico e della cartolina artistica realizzata da Poste Italiane per l’occasione.

Vietri sul Mare celebrates Saint Anthony Abbot with the Ceramists’ Festival on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the area adjacent to the Railway Station.

On January 17th, the city honors Saint Anthony Abbot, the master of fire and protector of animals, as well as the patron saint of ceramists and those who work with fire. Following tradition, Vietri sul Mare, a city with an ancient ceramic tradition, intends to pay tribute to Saint Anthony Abbot with a grand festival of ceramists. The event will include the blessing of the “vampa” (the firing of ceramic pieces with sacred fire), tasting of typical dishes, and moments of entertainment and folk music.

The gathering is at 6:00 PM in the square adjacent to the railway station of Vietri sul Mare, in a captivating festival strongly desired by Mayor Giovanni De Simone and Councilor Daniele Benincasa, responsible for ceramics.

To welcome all the festival guests, there will be a large bonfire, and Vietri ceramists will showcase spectacular techniques, including some ancient ones, in the millennia-old art that has made Vietri sul Mare famous and appreciated worldwide. The show will also feature fire eaters and the opportunity to savor delicious typical dishes prepared by the ceramists themselves.

The event will be preceded by the presentation of the philatelic cancellation and artistic postcard created by the Italian Post for the occasion.
